My business goals for May 2017

Back in April, I wrote my first ever goal setting post. Goal setting is something I’m trying to work into my weekly & monthly routines in order to achieve my bigger picture goals by the end of the year. So, in honor of the new month, today I’ll be sharing my business goals for May.

Before we talk about my business goals for May, I wanted to quickly recap the goals I was able to accomplish last month.

1. Post 2-3 tweets daily and engage in one Twitter chat a week.

I signed up for a Buffer account and was able to schedule 4 tweets per day! When I started my Twitter goal, I had 120 followers (I know, I’ve seriously neglected the power of Twitter) and at the end of the month, I had 148 followers. Though I did experience growth, I’m hoping to increase the growth rate even more this month.

2. Guest post on one blog with a larger audience than me.

I was able to secure two guests posts last month, both on blogs with larger audiences than me. The posts will be going out this month, but it feels great to have successfully made connections with influencers in my niche.

3. Create a new Lead Magnet.

I created a brand new lead magnet for an upcoming course I’m launching. This new lead magnet has had an incredible response and I’m hoping to keep the momentum going through the next few months. Be sure to check it out HERE.

1. Add 200 subscribers to my email list.

Last month, I set a goal to add 100 new subscribers to my email list. Unfortunately, I was not able to achieve this goal. However, I was able to set some new systems in place that I’m hoping will have a dramatic effect on my traffic & list growth this month. Here are the changes I’ve made/plan to make:

  • New Lead Magnet that directly targets bloggers
  • An above the fold opt-in box on all my blog post pages
  • A new Pinterest strategy optimizing group boards
  • Changed my homepage to offer several free Lead Magnet options
  • Welcome Mat that offers my new Lead Magnet to users before entering my site
  • Guest Posting
  • Webinars

2. Host my first webinar.

Webinars are something I’ve really wanted to incorporate into my business growth and list building strategy. This month, I plan to do a Joint Venture Webinar with Becca from According to BBooks (so stay tuned for more details). In addition, I’d like to create a Signature Webinar to roll out early June that ties in with my upcoming course launch.

Webinars currently terrify me. But I know how effective and powerful they can be. I’m willing to get over my fear and just try in order to optimize my business’ growth these next few months.

3. Guest post for two more influencers in my niche.

Over the next few months, I’m really trying to capitalize on the opportunity to guest post and collaborate with influencers in my niche. In order to be exposed to a larger audience, I plan to write two more guest posts for the month of May.

Goals are SO important to our success and overall well-being. When we accomplish a goal we set for ourselves, our body releases seretonin, physically making us feel happier.

My Business Goals for April 2017

Setting actionable business goals for the month

I’ve been thinking a lot about goal setting today and how I’d like to be more intentional about setting specific monthly goals for my business. Business goals can be tricky. When I think about where I want to be with my business vs where I am now, it feels like it will take forever to get there. Kind of like learning a foreign language. I know my mind is capable of it, but I just can’t fathom what it’s like to get from point A to point B.

That’s where these small business goals come in. Daily, actionable steps are much easier for me to wrap my brain around. And I want to share with you today, what I’m calling my Deductive Goal Setting strategy.

Studies have shown that we typically attain the goals we set for ourselves that are specific. Not to mention, dopamine is released when we set goals for ourselves and achieve them. Even small ones.

So step 1 entails making a list of all the big picture items I’d like to see happen for my business this year. These include things like, launch a course, grow my email list to 2,000, develop a strong social media presence and build relationships with influencers in my niche.

These are overwhelming goals, right?

Step 2 is all about breaking it down – making the goals feel small and doable. For example, my big picture goal is to grow my email list to 2,000 subscribers. So what they could tangibly look like may be things like creating a live webinar, adding new content upgrades to old blog posts or contacting 3 influencers in my niche about guest posting on their platform.

I also want to have a push or stretch goal. This is an actionable goal that makes me feel a little uncomfortable. It pushes me to go just a little bit further and achieve just a little bit more.

For me, writing them down here gives me accountability. So without further ado, here are my business goals for the month of April…

1. Add 100 new subscribers to my email list.

This is a big one for me. I haven’t started focusing on list building until recently. I’m hoping to launch a new course this July and would like to grow my email list to 1,000 subscribers before then. In this first month of list building, I hope to add 100 new subscribers to my list.

2. Post 2-3 tweets daily and engage in one Twitter chat a week.

Again, I haven’t really been a fan of Twitter until recently. I’ve had a Twitter for the last 6 years. But I rarely use it. As a business owner, I’ve realized that Twitter is an amazing place to engage and connect with others in my niche. I’ve been researching various strategies for growing your business with Twitter. So my “Twitter goal” for this month is to post 2-3 daily tweets and engage in at least one Twitter chat a week.

3. Guest post on one blog with a larger audience than me.

Guest posting is something that I’ve been meaning to do for a while, but have been too afraid to make a move. Ideally, I’d like to guest post for a blogger with a larger audience then me. It is a little intimidating for me to approach an influencer, for fear that I’ll be rejected. But I know that guest posting will expose me to a larger audience and help me with both my monthly and big picture goals. So it’s time to bite the bullet and do it!

4. Create a new Lead Magnet.

This month, I’d also like to create and put up a brand new Lead Magnet. This will require narrowing down exactly what I want to freebie to include, how I want to design it and taking a few new photos to add to the branding.

Custom website design: My step by step process

My website design process explained step-by-step

“Website design is an art.”

I LOVE websites. I spend hours browsing through people’s personal websites and I’m captivated by the why’s of what they’ve created. An online space that is well-designed, strategically put together and effectively executed is a weapon for mass success. In addition to looking at other people’s websites, I love designing and making them. And today, I will be walking you step-by-step through my custom website design process.

Website design is an art. It’s way more than having pretty images and fancy fonts on a page. It is a process, beginning with a vision and ending with a launching pad. When I’m working with a client, it is important for me to understand who they are and what their business is about. It is my goal to push them in their business goals and help them accomplish more with their website.

And for every blogger, business owner and entrepreneur reading this, my mission is to help you understand and claim your online space to it’s fullest potential. Whether you’re someone ready to take your website to the next level or a fellow web designer hoping to improve and streamline your process, here is a step-by-step look into my custom website design process.
